THE HISTORY OF EASTER
Easter is a festival and holiday celebrating the resurrection of Jesus from the dead, described in the New Testament as having occurred on the third day of his burial after his crucifixion by the Romans at Calvary. The holiday basically is celebrated by Christians and the Jews. According to the history of Easter holiday, it has different theme colors with different symbolism, but the main color used is purple which is used in the sanctuaries. The colors used are blue, white, scarletBlue- God in Heaven
Purple- Prophetic of coming of Messiah , result of suffering in the cross and also the Gospel
Scarlet/Red- Man
Also white is used that shows purity.White is used by worshipers at the sanctuary “‘Come now, let us reason together,’ says the LORD. ‘Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool’” (Isaiah 1:18)
Interestingly, angels, believers in heaven, and Jesus in his glory are all characterized as wearing white. Of the transfiguration of Jesus, the Gospel of Mark records: “His clothes became dazzling white, whiter than anyone in the world could bleach them” (Mark 9:3).
Christians extends the Easter holiday celebrating from the Last supper the death of Christ and also the resurrection.
